What to watch for on a 20 × 40 plot.
- Only about 14 ft of width is left to build on once the side margins are kept, so rooms run front to back.
- A passage across the middle keeps the bedroom private — you never walk through it to reach anywhere else.
- The kitchen goes to the rear so its window and drain reach the back open space.
